The Profile

The Interpersonal Intelligence Profile

See yourself as others see you

The foundation every workshop is built on, and a powerful read on its own. A confidential, multi-rater assessment that shows your style, how people actually experience you, and where to flex. Measured, not guessed.

What it measures

Two questions decide how you come across

Every interaction is shaped by two observable habits: how much you push your own ideas into a room, and how much emotion you let people see. Plot those two together and a clear, recognizable style appears, one your colleagues already respond to whether you have named it or not.

The four styles

One map, four distinct styles

One line ranges from Careful (asks, holds back, minimizes risk) to Forceful (asserts, makes statements, takes control). The other ranges from Controlled (contained, even, task-focused) to Emotive (open, expressive, people-focused). Where the two meet is your primary style, and learning to read them is the first step to working well with everyone else’s.

No style is better than another. The goal is not to change who you are. It is versatility: the skill of adapting so the other person can hear you.

The process

From invitation to insight in three steps

1

Rate yourself

A short online questionnaire, taken at your own pace on any device, against the same descriptive words your raters will use.

2

Gather perspective

Invite three to five people who know your work. Their feedback is combined into one consensus view, and individual answers are never shown.

3

Receive your Profile

A clear, personalized report: your style, how others experience you, your versatility, and a practical action plan.

VERSATILITYRigidHighly versatileYour score is a skill, not a personality trait. And skills can be practiced, coached, and improved.

Why it matters

Style is how you show up. Versatility is how well you adapt.

Two people with the same style can get very different results. One has learned to read the room and adjust; the other has not yet. The Profile measures that adaptability directly and gives you specific, situation-by-situation ways to build it.

Your report

What’s inside your Profile

Your style, mapped

Exactly where you fall on both dimensions, with plain-language description of your natural strengths and watch-outs.

Self vs. others

Where your self-view and your raters’ consensus agree, and the revealing places they don’t.

Your versatility score

A measured read on how well you currently adapt, with the behaviors that raise or lower it.

A practical action plan

Specific, situational moves you can use tomorrow, on your own or with a coach.

The four style names originate in research begun in the 1950s by Dr. David W. Merrill (University of Denver), developed with Roger H. Reid and Gordon Brunson, and are used here with acknowledgment.
